Playtest feedback
When a playtest match of your game ends, Boardweaver asks every player who is not a member of the game how it went. The prompt sits on their bell until they answer it, so a player who closes it with Not now can come back later. Don't ask again turns it down for good. Players can always skip the form, and every question on it is optional.
Choosing the questions
Open your game in the studio and choose Feedback form under Health. Custom feedback forms are part of the Designer and Professional plans: admins and editors on one of those plans can change the form, and everyone else sees it read-only with the questions players are asked today.
A new game asks three default questions, all free text:
- What was your favorite part of the game and why?
- What was your least favorite part of the game and why?
- Did you ever try something and the game didn't do what you expected? What were you going for?
Edit them, delete them, reorder them, or add your own, up to 20 questions. A deleted default can be restored from below the list, and an edited one can be reset to its original wording. Changes take effect when you press Save questions: every feedback form a player opens after that asks the new questions, including players whose match ended earlier. A player who already had the form open can still send it, and their answers stay with the questions they were shown.
Each question has an answer type:
- Free text. One line or a paragraph.
- Star rating. Three, five or ten stars, with an optional label under the first and last star.
- Scale. 1 to 5, 1 to 7 or 1 to 10, with an optional label at each end.
- Single choice. Players pick one option. Turn on the "Other" answer to let them type their own.
- Multiple choice. Players pick any options that apply, with the same optional "Other" answer.
- Ranking. Players put the options in order, all of them or only their top three.
Choice and ranking questions need at least two different options and take at most 12. Any question can have helper text, a hint shown under it.
The preview beside the editor shows the selected question exactly as players see it, in the theme you have on.
What players see
The form opens as a dialog with one question at a time. A progress bar shows which question they are on and how many there are. Back and Next move between questions, and the last one sends the answers to you.
Reading the answers
Answers show on the Matches page, under the match they were given for. Filter the list to matches with feedback to see only those. A star rating reads as "4 of 5 stars", a ranking as a numbered list.
Changing a question after players have answered it does not change their answers: they stay with the wording they were asked.
